Who is AJ Donnelly?

Hello, as you might have guessed, my name is AJ Donnelly and I’m a British actor and voice artist.

Though the name ‘AJ Donnelly’ is only a stage name I’ve been using since 2013, I have been acting since I was 7 years old when I played Father Bear in my school’s production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I was bullied every day of school, from day one until my late teens. During those years, the only time I felt comfortable and unafraid was when I was acting.

Acting is AJ Donnelly’s superpower!

Every time I was on stage, all my doubts, insecurities, and fears disappeared. I could be anyone, do anything and no one could judge me or hurt me. For a young child who was often lonely and afraid, it was the ultimate form of escape. It was like being a superhero. Except I didn’t need a mask, just a script and an audience!

From that first performance, I knew acting was my greatest love and passion. Today, I no longer need acting as a way to protect myself, but I take every role as a duty, an opportunity to connect with people and bring a little bit of escapism into their lives, whether through comedy, drama, or action. And it’s a duty I take very seriously but have great fun doing!

So now I have a fancy IMDb page, Equity UK (the UK actors union) membership, and some other “necessary” acting profiles, which help me find new challenges and opportunities to reach more people.
